How long will Telcos kill each other: Sunil Mittal

New Delhi: Airtel Head Sunil Mittal said on Thursday that the telecommunications industry must stop “kill each other”, and consider raising tariffs immediately because they are all “panting”.
Mittal, which is seen as a person who touted the telecommunications revolution in the country, said that while the Indian market has seen data and the use of shooting sounds through the roof, rates are still to see any action, leaving the company in financial chaos.
“To say that the telecommunications industry in a slight problem is actually an underestimated statement.
It was in the amount of extraordinary stress.
I hope the government, authorities, and the Department of Telecommunications (DOT) focus on this problem and ensure that Indian digital dreams remain intact,” he said , making cases for fiscal support and assistance.
The aggressive launch by Reliance Jio in September 2016 has truly violated the back of the telecommunications industry when Mukesh Ambani made it back into business by making free sound and offering data at low prices.
Airtel suffered a loss for a series of quarters afterwards, while Vodafone’s idea was in the midst of deep losses and financial chaos despite combining operations.
Mittal repeated his thoughts that the state of India needed three private operators.
“Ten operators came out of business, two join together …
panting for breath now …
How long can you continue to kill each other? In essence, you have a return on capital – even by the best operator – in one digit low and partly Great of them struggling.
“He said that while Airtel felt that tariffs needed to rise, it still” could not do it unilaterally “because the company must pay attention to competition steps.
Jio, who now leads the telecommunications market India, has maintained its hyper-aggressive attitude and has not provided a clear indication of the increase in consumer tariffs.
Mittal said that the last 5-6 years had been brutal for older telecommunications players, adding that the results were there for all to be seen.
