How Mutt’s role in Karnataka politics grows

Bengaluru: Every time there is a political crisis in Karnataka, a variety of mutt turns into active and expanding support to Neta or the party is fought.
This week, some pontist, including Siddalinga Swamiji from Siddagaga Mutt which was strong in Tumakuru, has visited the residence of the BS Yediyurappa Minister to show solidarity in the middle of a report working on a succession plan.
Visits have met with disapproval in several places.
BJP AH Vishwanath legislator, a critic of the spirit of Yediyurappa, said that the Pope should not support certain people or parties, and vice versa must be part of the community.
“Where is these fortunies when Covid-19 takes the victim to people?” He asked.
In July 2019, when the Government of HD Kumaraswamy was led staggered, the head of two Mutt Vokkaliga issued a veiled warning that they would not tolerate the efforts of destability against the CM of their community.
In one of the earliest examples, Mutts showed their strength when Karnataka’s main minister, S Nijalingappa, suffered amazing defeat in the magnification of Hosadurga 1962.
Nijalingappa, representing subsecces from the Lingayat community, had a feud to run with the leader of the Swamiji Shivakumar Mutt Local Local from Sirigere.
The latter, who represents conscious, other subseces, ensure that a elected Kuruba candidate.
There are more than 500 mutt in the state, and from this, a dozen are considered very influential.
That politicians from cross-line party go mutt-hopping during the selection only sustain this fact.
Religious institutions have great followers, occupy central spaces in their respective communities, have land and assets that are feasible to run the center and hospital education.
Former Head of Minister of Ramakrishna Hegde gave them permission and land to establish a professional college.
Some institutions, such as Siddagaga, Suttur, Adichunchanagiri, Muruga, Moorusavira and Tontaranya Mutts, do extensive social work, offering free food every day and facilitate mass marriages.
Pressure on the Government: In the past, the government that day dropped several policies after protest by the peraming.
In 2014, the Government of the Siddaramaia LED Congress moved Religious bills and amendments to Hindu Karnataka (amendments) in the legislature.
The bill tried to bring institutions began with mutt and other religious organizations under the control of the government.
The whale from crossing Mutt who opposed this and Siddaramaiiah was forced to drop it.
Most gutap caste and the community have played a role in politics, but up to 12 to 15 years ago, they have never been directly involved.
“Previously, Seers never openly indicated their preferences for parties or candidates.
Every time they want their followers to choose certain candidates, they will say some good words about the person.
But now, they directly visit the politician houses for Shows support and make a statement in public, “said a MLA Lingayat from North Karnataka.
Some seers support candidates and campaigns for them, while some people have lobbied party tickets.
“This trend began in 2008 when Yediyurappa distributed thousands of crores rupees for Mutts after forming the first BJP government in the South.
This was followed by Siddaramaiiah (Congress) and HD Kumaraswamy (JDS),” Mahadev Prakash, a political expert, wrote in one of his books.
