Microsoft has begun launching the Windows 11 operating system to compatible devices starting today (October 5).
The company expects all eligible devices to receive updates in mid 2022.
Announced in June, Windows 11 is the successor of Windows 10, which was launched in 2015.
To check whether your device has received updates, open settings> Windows update.
If you have received updates that you can download and install it from that page.
If you have not received an update, you have three different options to install Windows 11.
– Go to the Windows 11 software download page> Click ‘Download now’ and follow the instructions.
– On that page, you can click ‘create a Windows 11 installation media’ to make a USB or DVD that can be booted.
– You can also download disk images (ISO) for installation of any virtual machine or bootable media.
According to the company, Windows 11 was built on the same foundation as Windows 10 and was designed to work efficiently on touch screen devices and non-touchscreen.
Updates add a refreshing display and more applications to your device.
In Windows 11, the taskbar looks similar to that looks on Mac and context menus, popups and windows have rounded angles.
This update is compatible with almost every device that supports Windows 10 but to ensure that your device is compatible for updates that you install the Microsoft PC Health Check application on your device.
This application runs through the system configuration and will give you the necessary information.
You can also go through the minimum hardware requirements issued by the company: 1GHz processor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB storage available, the graphics card that supports DirectX 12, a trusted platform module (TPM) version of 2.0 and 720p resolution.
The company also suggests that for the best Windows 11 upgrade experience, a qualified device must run Windows 10, version 20H1 or newer.
