HOWRA: Four young men allegedly robbed Hospital 1 crore businessman from his shop on a bad road in Howrah on Tuesday afternoon.
When their taxi traveled traffic jams in Snarl traffic, the young men allegedly jumped out of the car, brandishing firearms and escaped from the place.
The locals managed to catch the taxi driver, who was trapped in Snarl, and handed it to the police.
Dilipanan businessman Verma, who deals with iron and steel trade, save Rs 1 Crore in his office for several payments.
Around 10 in the morning, the young men entered his shop with the buyer’s guise.
While one of them waited outside, the other three threatened to kill him if he did not submit money to them.
They carry bombs along with revolvers.
“The young men tied me to the chair, tied my mouth and looted all cash,” Verma said.
He told the police that he could recognize a number of three young men entering his shop.
The police also interrogated Verma employees and examined their cellphones and record their calls to check whether there was a deep role in the robbery.
The police recovered CCTV footage in the Verma store and outside.
Interrogating the driver, the police learned that the taxi was employed by five young men from Howrah Maidan.
One of them fell in the middle of the road.
The young men asked him to park a taxi a little away from the shop.
The driver told the police that he did not have a hunch on their intention until they jumped from his car, brandishing revolver and bombs.
“We checked CCTV footage and tracked several telephone numbers.
We hope to make the initial breakthrough in this case,” said the Howrah City Police officer.
The incident, however, caused a serious stir on a bad road in HOWRAH decorated with iron shops and steel traders.
“We have run trading here.
