Shimla: ‘Grand Old Man’ from Himachal Pradesh’s politics, Virbhadra Singh (87), died at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Shimla, Thursday morning due to post-covid complications.
Popularly known as the “King of Sahib”, Virbhadra, who remained the main minister of Himachal Pradesh six times more than 21 years, has been hospitalized since April 30 after recovering from Covid-19.
He made ventilator support over the past two days after his health condition deteriorated.
Virbhadra Singh was first tested positive Covid-19 on April 12 this year and then recovered.
He was first received at Indira Gandhi Medical College and Shimla Hospital (IGMC) and then to a private hospital in Mohali where he had defeated infection.
After returning to Shimla, he was again taken to IGMC on April 30 and remained under the observation of the doctor since then.
He was again tested positive for Covid-19 on June 11, but recovered again.
However, he must be subject to ventilator support after developing some respiratory problems two days ago.

Janak Raj Pakhretia, an IgMC senior medical supervisor, former main minister died around 4am.
He said former minister was declared dead after suffering cardio-lung arrests, he said that Virbhadra Singh had tested Corona’s positive twice and recovered, but then diagnosed with severe pneumonia.
“With a heavy heart, this institution told him that he breathed his breath around 4am.
After his health deteriorated, he shifted to the ventilator but could not recover.
We felt sorry that despite our best efforts, we could not save his life,” he added.
The son of late King Sir Padam Singh from the country of Bushahr; Virbhadra Singh was born on June 23, 1934, in Sarahan in the Shimla District.
His demise has created a vacuum in the state, especially in Congress.
While the Government of Himachal Pradesh has expressed the grief of the country 3 days after the death of the former minister’s head, shops in Shimla remain closed as a sign of respect for veteran leaders.

The remnants of mortal Virbhadra Singh will be stored in Holly Lodge on Thursday and in Ridge from 9am to 11:30 a.m.
