Gurgaon: To bring transparency in the government administration managed by the government and improve accountability in the use of funds, the Directorate of School Education has announced a social audit of more than 14,000 schools throughout the state.
The Directorate has asked all Ministry of Education officials to start working on the formation of the school management committee that has been postponed more than a year due to the Covid crisis and its impact on education.
The first task of the committee is to conduct a social audit of the work done by the previous committee.
Called the 2019-20 Social Audit, this exercise is to assess the demands of the school, the performance of the previous committee dissolved in 2020 and work carried out under the development of schools that each school prepares every year.
The department has confirmed that this direction’s instructions must be strictly followed because the state is bound by the rights of children to free and compulsory education efforts, 2009 to form a committee at the school level to see the utilization of funds.
The previous committee had a two-year term and was finally dissolved last year.
In accordance with part 21 of the free and compulsory education law in 2009, each school is to form the School Management Committee (SMC).
The committee consists of parents / guardians of students, teachers, local representatives of selected authorities.
The committee must ensure that the 50% of its members are women and three quarters of parents belong to a disadvantaged group.
“Because Covid, the new SMC was not created last year and the 2019 and 2020 social audit was delayed.
When schools have now been opened and students will come in large quantities, we need to form this SMC and complete it with a social audit.
This is the first step to assess Requests and also propose plans to improve the quality of education.
It will also act as an audit to check how much progress we have made and if ensuring that there is no error in handling funds.

The committee will also record the opinions of teachers and students about work carried out to overcome urgent demands and prepare reports on the same thing.
