HSC Examinations more Significant for Pupils than SSC: Maharashtra into HC

MUMBAI: The Maharashtra government on Monday advised Bombay High Court which SSC (Class X) and HSC (Class XII) examinations couldn’t be compared as the latter has been a comparatively more significant milestone for pupils as their livelihood depended upon it.

The state authorities, in an affidavit, stated SSC tests for this season were cancelled involving the coronavirus outbreak later thinking about the security of pupils, educators, parents and other stakeholders.

The affidavit, from the nation’s School Education and Sports division deputy secretary Rajendra Pawar, was in response to a PIL filed by a professor, Dhananjay Kulkarni, demanding that the April 19 decision of the state authorities to cancel Class X examinations this season.

The HC, on May 20, had come down significantly on the state authorities saying it had been creating a mockery of their schooling system, also had led it to file its affidavit about the prosecution.

The HC also sought a justification regarding why the state authorities was carrying Class XII examinations.

The state government’s affidavit stated Class XII examinations are postponed now and a last decision on this could be obtained following the Centre makes a movement on the federal level.

“It was considered fit that 12th plank assessments were a comparatively more important landmark in the instruction of their pupils as their potential livelihood depend upon exactly the exact same when compared with 10th standard exam” the affidavit said.

The state government stated it cannot be maintained that SSC examinations cannot be cancelled only because no decision was taken on HSC tests.

The affidavit explained holding SSC examinations, for which approximately 16 lakh students appear each calendar year, has been a”massive exercise” also between parents and teachers in addition to the authorities and transportation system.

It stated that the academic year of 2020-21 failed chaos with bodily courses becoming stopped and educators handling with internet courses because of this Covid-19 pandemic.

In addition, it stated there has been a danger of another wave of this outbreak that medical experts say could influence kids between 12 and 18 decades old.

Even the affidavit added that the government must also think of a formula about the best way best to assess the pupils.

The HC is forecast to hear the issue on June 1.
