MUMBAI: Housing secretary S V R Srinivas is going to be the newest MMRDA commissioner set up of R S Rajeev whose prolonged week-long tenure ended on May 31.
Rajeev was advised to retire on February 28 but had been extended a three-month expansion.
Srinivas, an IAS officer of the 1991 batch, had functioned in MMRDA before as further commissioner.
There was more buzz in the corridors of power that Rajeev will be awarded an extension of a single year.
Following objections with a part of senior cabinet members and bureaucrats, however, he had been provided a threemonth expansion.
There was a proposition to provide him a further expansion of nine weeks.
It had been dropped, however, after having a hotly contested letter in fabrics minister Aslam Shaikh, who’d raised a red flag on the state administration’s expansion policy.
Shaikh’s contention was that because of principle, the authorities shouldn’t give extensions into retiring bureaucrats, as it ends in amazing injustice to serving bureaucrats.
In addition to Rajeev, Shaikh had taken objection to the extension given to Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) managing manager Radheshyam Mopalwar along with also the appointment of veteran bureaucrat V K Gautam within a officer of specific duty (OSD) from the water resources division.
There was not any advice on if Mopalwar was provided a brand new extension following his long term expired May 31.
“Extension to retiring bureaucrats includes a demoralising impact on serving bureaucrats.
In addition, it maligns the picture of this government as it is readily construed such extensions have been provided on the grounds of a consideration for performing job beyond the ambit of principles,” said Shaikh in his correspondence.
In addition to Srinivas, leader minister Uddhav Thackeray has changed over half a dozen bureaucrats.
General government secretary Lokesh Chandra is going to likely be the new general director of BEST in area of Suresh Bagde, that has taken up essential deputation.
Vikas Chandra Rastogi was submitted in the overall government department.
Sicom managing director B Venugopal Reddy is going to be the newest forest secretary.
Shrikar Pardeshi, that had been at the Prime Minister’s Office for a protracted period, is going to be the new managing director of Sicom.
