Mumbai: A 20-year-old man was arrested for allegedly having 41 swords and eight other sharp weapons in the city of Aurangabad Maharashtra on Sunday, police said.
The defendant has been identified as Irfan Khan alias Denmark, a resident of Baijiura in the city, they said.
“Khan used to buy swords online and rented it for wedding functions,” said an official of the Binsi Police Office in Aurangabad.
Recently, he had ordered a number of weapons like that, which was conveyed to him by the courier company, he said, as he added that his intention was behind buying a large number of weapons were confirmed.
“After we got a tip-off about it, we stormed his residence and confiscated a total of 49 weapons,” the official said.
Forty-one this weapon was a sword, while the other six were Kris, said other officials.
The defendant was arrested under the part of the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) and ARM acted.
He has been sent in police custody for six days, police said.
