Mumbai: The Crime Branch of Mumbai on Saturday arrested a 30-year-old man in 12 hours after he stabbed a 29-year-old man to death on the Mankhurd train station platform.
Accused of accused, Ramzan Pathan aka Pappu, a resident of Navi Mumbai, has been submitted to the Vashi train police where the murder case was registered.
The defendant and the victim, Deepak Hiray, both of them had come down from the luggage compartment of the local train at the Mankhurd train station.
“The motive behind the murder was a robbery.
Pappu has during its efforts for robbery, removing sharp objects and stabbing Hiray, a chopping stakeholder.
The victim rushes to the hospital where he is declared dead,” said a crime branch officer.
Without instructions, the crime branch began an investigation and found it difficult to get instructions; CCTV images are also unclear.
While the police were working on this case, a police officer Nitin Sawant of the Crime Branch was informed that the defendant was in Khargar, Navi Mumbai.
A team led by Inspector Ravindra Salunkhe arrived there and took PAPPU.
During the primary interrogation, the police knew that there were several previous criminal cases registered against Pappu including the persecution, riots, theft and criminal intimidation at various police stations.
Investigation is supervised by Milind Bharambe, Commissioner with the Crime Branch, ADDL CP Veeresh Prabhu, Neelotpal DCP (Crime) and staff.
