Humans burn themselves outside the police station in Tonk

Jaipur: A 60-year-old man allegedly tried to commit suicide outside the police station in the Tonk district by burning himself, officials said.
The reason behind the extreme step is not immediately known, they said.
Ramswaroop Bairwa went to the Todaraising police station on Tuesday night but returned from the main gate after talking to the police on duty, they said.
About 100 meters from the police station, he took gasoline from his motorcycle, poured it into himself and burned himself, police said.
Police personnel hurried to save him and emit flames.
He was taken to the nearest hospital but was referred to the SMS Hospital in Jaipur where he underwent treatment, they said.
According to an official, Bairwa has registered several cases while he was also accused of several cases related to land disputes.
However, there were no cases lodged at the Todaraisingh police station.
“The reason (behind the suicide attempt) will be clear after his statement,” the official added.
In a separate incident, a 65-year-old woman poured her own gasoline and threatened to burn himself in the office of the deputy supervisor of the police, the Sawaimadhopur district when he was upset because of the lack of action submitted by him.
The woman accused three relatives of the gang in August.
On Tuesday, he walked to the police station and poured gas above himself.
However, the police were present there caught him before he could burn himself and his clothes were changed.
Then, a case of attempts to commit suicide was registered at the Man Town police station.
Deputy SP Narayan Sharma was investigating a gang rape case registered at the Soorwal Police Station in August.
“In the initial investigation, the accusation of the gang rape seemed wrong.
It was upwards that there was a financial dispute of Rs 6 lakh between him and the defendant in the case of rape gang.
The accusation cannot be established and the case is increasingly investigated,” Sharma said.
“He came to my office and to create pressure, pour gasoline above himself and threatened to commit suicide.
The case of attempts to commit suicide has been registered against him,” he added.
