Amritsar: A 31-year-old man who was arrested in a reduction in suicide cases, allegedly died of suicide in the police station in Amritsar on Tuesday, officials said.
Singh Dilpreet was arrested after his wife Paramjit Kaur also took extreme Stept two days ago.
He was ordered under Section 306 (Suicide Reduction) from the Indian Criminal Code (IPC) based on the complaint submitted by his wife’s parents.
The Singh family said that he took his own life because he was arrested based on a “wrong” statement.
Before ending his life, Singh wrote a suicide note on the key wall at the police station.
The police said Singh consumed several toxic substances.
Magisterial requests have begun in this matter, they said.
