Bhubaneswar: Mischief by a 16-year-old boy made his father, a senior forest officer, lost Rs 4.42 lakh for cyber fraudsters in Kandhamal District.
According to the local cyber police, Science Plus-II students downloaded the application on her father’s cellphone and clicked on several evil links last week.
Within minutes, scammers cheatedly pulled Rs 4.42 lakh from his father’s account.

They lure victims to use loans from them with cheap interest rates.
Without bringing this problem to his father’s notification, the boy replied that he would take a loan of Rs 60,000.
The fraudsters asked him to send a 10% processing fee from the loan amount.
“Without realizing anything, he shared his father’s bank account details and transferred Rs 6,000 from Gateway UPI on his father’s phone.
The defendant demanded more money and told him that they would return all the money with the number of loans.
The boy then pays Rs 18,000, Rs 20,000 And Rs 38,800 in the fraudster phase, “said an officer.
The boy stopped chatting with fraudsters after his father asked for a call.
Forest officers were surprised when reading messages from several transactions from their bank accounts.
“I was surprised to see that Rs 4.42 lakh was withdrawn from my account.
I asked my child.
He showed me the application downloaded and several links,” the officer said.
