New Delhi: A 36-year-old man was arrested from Jodhpur in Rajasthan for allegedly harassing the professor of Delhi University by making a repeat video call WhatsApp made a “obscene” movement, police said on Thursday.
The defendant was identified as Dharampal Rai Ghazipur, Uttar Pradesh.
Rai has learned to high school and works as an operator at the RO factory, they said.
Rai is thought to be alcohol and his wife lives in his village with family, they said.
The problem was revealed on January 29 when a female professor Du filed a complaint at the Timarpur Police Station in North Delhi, said unidentified people bothered him by making recurring video calls and carrying out obscene acts, police said, said the police.
The case was registered in this matter and the suspect was then traced in Jodhpur, Sagar Singh Kalsi, Deputy Commissioner of Police (North), said.
“Our team went to Jodhpur, Rajasthan looking for a suspect.
After a consistent manual effort, the suspect was arrested from the RO factory located on Salawas Village farming in Jodhpur.” He was identified as Dharamat Rai and the cellphone used in the commission.
The crime was restored from his ownership, “he said.
The defendant revealed that he was used to search for Facebook’s female profile randomly and after tracking the contact number they would send whatsapp messages and make video calls.
