New Delhi: City council members from South Delhi Region Mohammadpur and Humanyupur have proposed a change in the name of this urban village to Madhavpuram and Hanumpur.
Suggestions have divided local residents on religious lines, with some appreciating such changes and others reject it, indicating that changes in nomenclature are not cosmetics but requires changes in documents and identity when influencing the sensitivity of society.
Midway between the place of Bhikaji Cama and RK Puram, Mohammadpur Village has been around 325 years since farmers from the nearest Munirka Village shifted to empty areas near the teenage Burji Mosque, an impressive Lodhi era monument.
Kuldeep Singh Tomar, 70, Treasurer of the local Rwa, said that for years the village land was taken over to develop colonies such as Sarojini Nagar and RK Puram.
“There is no communal on request for a name change.
This only reflects the desire of the residents.
There are almost no Muslim families there,” Tomar’s claim.
Chaupal Village, renovated by Intach, is located not far from the Mosque protected by ASI and the village well, which is now covered.
Kulbeer Singh, another resident, a rupe that the village has turned into a kabutarcha (dovecove) with the development and acquisition of land that is not planned.
Narrow lanes, well-managed gardens and unplanned mushrooms from 4-5-storey houses showing the area requires rebuilding.
In the west of Mohammadpur there is a slum cluster Kumhar Basti, Azad Basti and Colony Adarsh.
There, people also produce knitted goods, food products, leather products and other objects.
“Why need to change the existing name for hundreds of years?” Kumar asked.
“We have been raised in this village and have never had such requests before.
What will we get from it?” The Autorickshaw Driver Monu has another problem.
“What is the Madhavpuram Association with this place?” He asked.
Barber Mohammad Samir believes that such problems must be stored when the city selection approaches.
“Name changes are not a problem in the area.
The focus must improve the life of the occupants by providing facilities,” he said.
In 2014, the plan to rebuild in-situ for this village was prepared by the Delhi urban art commission, but was not implemented.
About 2 km from Humanayupur Village, located between the Deer Park and Safdarjung’s bag.
Over the years, Humanayupur, the village dominated by JAT, has gained a more cosmopolitan atmosphere with a large wave of residents from East Indian countries.
The lanes is coated with tattoo stores, salons and restaurants that offer dragon cuisine, Tibet, Assamese and Thailand.
The village was also in the eye of the controversy in 2018 when a Gumti, a tomb of a small number of medieval times, was painted by infidels and turned into a temple.
Most of the local residents who spoke revealed a request for a name change.
Sangh Priya Gautam, 33, convincing people will suffer if a change is carried out.
“Politicians must focus on development.
Look at our streets, see the stack of garbage.
Everyone knows what politicians are trying to do,” Gautam said.
Chand’s law, 94, who lived near Jatav Chaupal testified to Mahatma Gandhi visited this village and felt politically avoided the atmosphere.
“We did not demand,” he said.
“The name Humanyupur still has our identity for centuries.” Ashok Kumar, 56, who lived on the track where Northeast Restaurant breeded, insisted that there was no desire for changing names among the population.
“This request has its origins in the minds of immoral people and everyone must suffer for it,” he said carefully.
Cheap rent has made Humanayupur return to a large number of working class migrants who just want to live in peace.
Vegetable sellers Rajesh Kumar, came from Bihar who settled here in 1999, said he had no preference for Humanayupur or Hanumangarh as long as the area developed and prospered.
