Hundreds of activists hit Ranchi’s streets to support STAN, demanding that UPA revoke

Ranchi: Hundreds of civil rights activists from different socio-political groups gathered under the banner of community unity for civil liberties (PUCL), the Jharkhand unit on Friday to demand justice for human rights activists Stan Swamy, who died in judicial detention at Mumbai in July 5.
Activists handed over a memorandum to the Governor of Ramesh Bais, aimed at India President Ram Nath Kovind, looking for his intervention to examine immediately on the ‘government dictatorial action and recovery of the rights of democracy citizens.
On Friday afternoon, while challenging the unrelenting rain, activists formed a human chain near Alun-Albert Ekka while holding placards to condemn the ‘institutional murder of’ Stan and demanding the revocation of ‘Draconian law such as UPA and incitement’.
Stan was accused of Bhima Koregaon’s case and was charged under UPA and was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) last year and was appointed to Mumbai-based prison.
Bhuneshwar Kewat CPIML, who participated in protests at the Main Road, said, “The booth does not die because of the natural cause Nine months of detention.
“The kewat demanded a judicial probe into his death and said that those who hatched the conspiracy to keep the booth behind bars to raise the sound to support the tribe and Dalit in Jharkhand had to be taken to the task.
Other activists Dayamani Barla accused them of the corridor of power for fear of activists.
“The booth has challenged the formation of land banks and also raised the voice to support thousands of tribes that languish in prison after being labeled as Maois.
He has become a problem maker for the Nexus government,” he said, adding that his death was planned.
Jean Dreeze’s development economist also joined protests and said that STAN has become a symbol for thousands of people who have been punished by using UPA.
He claimed that prosecution failed to build cases listed under the UPA and those who were arrested for crime under the law was rejected by the guarantee.
Secretary General of Jharkhand Pucl Arwind Avinash said that the main sacrifice of the Stan would organize a series of agressors throughout the country to fight the applicable dictatorship.
“The government does not only silence the sounds of differences of opinion by using law but also use illegal ways to silence.
All civil rights defenders will come on one platform to stop exploitation,” he added.
