Noida: Hundreds of people from various villages here and a large number of police personnel were involved in confrontation on Tuesday during a demonstration on land compensation outside the Noida Authority Office on the outskirts of Delhi, to coincide with Bandh Bharat’s call which was given by farms three Agri laws.
The protesters, most supporters of Parishad Bharatiya Kisan, have been sitting outside the Office of the Noida Authority for the past few days for a number of demands including the compensation obtained by the government.
Police Officials said that security has increased in the region considering the protests and ongoing barricades were also formed to prevent protesters to move towards the authority office in sector 6.
When trying to calm the demonstrators, led by the leader of the farmer Sukhvir Pahalwan, Deputy Police Commissioner (Noida) Ranvijay Singh asked them “not to take the law into their hands”.
“You have the right to hold protests, but you also have to think of your actions that caused problems for others, influencing their movements,” Singh told the protesters, including several women.
“We don’t expect you to take a situation to a point where the police will be asked to use strength or start legal action against you all because it won’t help anyone,” the officer added.
This protest by Bharatiya Kisan Parishad was not related to stirring farmers who were greater against three controversial agricultural laws, but related to the population of 81 Noida villages whose land had gained in the past.
