HYD: 1,500 homeless people like Osman Nagar flooded

Hyderabad: More than 1,500 people in 300 houses side by side with Lake Osman Nagar were given homelessness after water overflowed from the lake and flooded the house.
On Tuesday, residents of Osman Nagar on the outskirts of the city were seen navigating knee water in an effort to divert their valuables to a safer place, while some of them were helpless waiting for the level of water down.
“Since the last flood, we almost did not have concessions from this situation.
All areas will be flooded and our houses are flooded with water after every rain spell.
Because of the various inundation incidents, our house foundation gradually deteriorates,” said Afreen Begum, whose house was surrounded by mud and waste from the exhaust that overflowed in the area.
When the rainy season made them stay in Tenterhook, an angry local population alleged that the authority of the citizenship had ignored their requests for officials to flow excess water and provide permanent solutions to this problem.
The 60-year-old population, Syed Faheem, said, “After the Minister of Education Sabitha Indira Reddy examined this area recently, officials of the city of Jalpally have started the work of Lake Osman Nagar Bund reconstruction but there is no point.
We need a permanent solution.” Bund, which Stretched across one KM and the width of about 12 feet, was being built to protect water from protecting houses.
The city reconstructed the Bund which was damaged by special funds of RS 20 Lakh approved by Rangiteddy District collector in the representation of the Minister of Sabitha Indra Reddy.
Officials, however, said that they could not provide a permanent solution because homes were built in the full tank area of Lake (FTL) and the case was still waiting in the High Court.
Agreed that some houses were still suffering from last year’s flood impact, G Praveen Kumar, Commissioner, Jalpally Municipality said, “The area was still affected because houses were built in the Lake FTL area.
We cannot take steps to offer a permanent solution because the case is still Pending in the High Court.
“However, the Commissioner said that they took all the necessary steps to drain water by cleaning the incoming channel and the channel out of the water channel.
It was in September last year that the first battle of heavy rainfall was flooded with Osman Nagar on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
The area was still flooded for about six months in stretching before the official took steps to drain flood water.
However, a year since the area experienced waterlogging and floods that created havoc in all cities, it seemed like nothing had changed for the population of nearly 300 houses which were once again flooded with excess water from the nearest Osman Nagar lake.
