Hyd airport commissions 5MW solar plant

Hyderabad: Taking another step towards Clean Energy, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd (Ghial) said on Monday that it has assigned the second phase of the solar power plant, with the total capacity of his Source to 10MW.
The first phase of 5MW was assigned in 2015.
Ghial said with additional commissioning capacity, Hyderabad Airport will be able to cut its dependence on conventional strength of 12 million units per year, resulting in savings around Rs 90 lakh per month.
, The company said solar power plants would now not only reach almost 50% of the total energy requirements from Hyderabad airport, it would also help reduce carbon footprint by cutting emissions around 28 lakh carbon dioxide which is equivalent to save 1.4 lakh adult trees.
The ghial solar factory, prepared for captive consumption, spread in an area of 45 hectares and consists of more than 30 thousand solar panels that have been installed to produce 10MW power.
Ghial said the two solar plants have advanced ABB central inverter and poly-crystal PV panels, which are far more efficient than mono crystal solar PV panels.
Shows the second phase commissioning as a major milestone and critical steps in the right direction, the CEO of GIAL GIAL PRADEEP PANICKER said as a member of the Aci Airport (International Council airport), the airport operator has committed to achieving net carbon zero emissions by 2050.
