HYD: Check the building in Ameenpur Nala, said Ngt

Hyderabad: National Green Tribunal has ordered a Joint Inspection Committee (JIC) led by a relaxed district collector to check the five-tall apartment complex which allegedly built on flood water Nala in Ameenpur.
The committee was asked to submit a report on September 30.
NGT issued an order based on a petition submitted by human rights and consumer protection cell trust, which accused that the building was built in Nala.
NGT commands the committee to ensure any encroachment into the body of the water or nala and construction blocks the flow of water.
It also asked the committee to verify the construction activities of the construction of Lalitha and looked into allegations that development in Nala had caused a puddle.
“If there is damage caused by the environment, the committee is directed at assessing environmental compensation and also suggest the steps for improvement to restore Nala and arrive at recovery costs,” said Ngt.
JIC will consist of officials from the Irrigation Department and Lake HMDA protection committee.
Thakur Raj Kumar Singh from human rights and consumer protection of cell protection in the petition accused that the builder blocked the water lane between Kothha Cheruvu and Bandamkomu Cheruvu with construction materials.
“Because of this, rainwater enters the closest colony such as home RR, Green Villas and Krishna Brundavan Colony and causes soaking.
Despite some complaints, the authorities have not taken any action,” he said.
He demanded that the agreement given to the builder was canceled and all flood water forecast connected with Kothha Cheruvu and Bandamkomu Cheruvu were restored.
He also urged NGT to issue direction to destroy construction in FTL, the buffer zone and all overast.
