Hyderabad: The increase in fuel prices in the city has driven many commuters to start collecting and using public transportation such as local buses, especially for long distances.
At present, one liter of gasoline in this city costs Rs 112.64 and the cost of diesel rs 105.84 per liter.
With colleges that are reopened and return, people have started collecting vehicles to save travel costs.
“My friend and I have to travel to college every day from Yapral to Medchal.
Previously, we used to travel individually and collected only once or twice a month.
But now, we try to join together with other college friends To ensure that our travel expenses are saved, “Anand Varma said, a student.
Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) also witnessed the increase in the number of people using the bus.
Many additional buses have been added to routes that lead to suburbs such as Ghatkesar, Ibrahimpatnam, Kesara, Chevella and Medchal where many college techniques are located.
“On a long route such as Koti-Patancheru, Dilsukhnagar-Secunderabad, Medchal-Secunderabad and Secunderabad-Patancheru, we observe pre-covid occupancy rates.
Of the 800 routes, occupancy in more than 700 routes has returned to normal,” said V Venkateshwarlu, Executive Director, Big Hyderabad Region, TSRTC.
For shorter distances, some people also depend on the shared car operating from the main intersection, especially in the IT corridor.
“Previously, the trip from KPHB to Hi-Tec City would cost Rs 60-100 in a taxi.
Now, I have started using a car with the price of Rs 20-40 for the same distance,” said Sai Taja, a resident of KPHB.
People from several communities have reached TSRTC to increase end-to-end bus connectivity.
For example, the gated community in Gundlapokampally recently sent a representation to TSRTC which was looking for the expansion of the bus to its main gate.
