Hyderabad: A 25-year-old man was arrested here for allegedly harassing a woman by sending an obscene message to her cellphone by disguising it as the official crime investigation department (CID), police said.
Women in complaints to the police stated that he received whatsapp messages and video calls from unknown cellphone numbers apart from obscene videos and images to his cellphone, release from Rachakonda Police Commissionerate said.
The man, who introduced himself as a cid official, asked the victim to make nude video calls and threatened to upload his photo changed on social media if he failed to oblige.
When the woman blocked the number she kept calling from another number.
Based on the complaint, the registered case and the defendant were arrested on November 15 during the interrogation, it was found that the defendant was a pornographic addict and he targeted a woman who was unknown to the social media platform with the intention of making friends and developing intimacy with them.
The stalker is used to make a random video call WhatsApp to a unknown number by hiding his face and when someone answers, he will make sure it is a woman and then often make calls and harass them, they say.
During this one effort he happened to make the video call WhatsApp to the reporter and sent obscene content to him, disguised as a cid official, they added.
