Hyderabad: The prohibition of the High Court at the soaking of Ganesh idols made from Paris (POP) plaster in Hussainsagar or other lakes in the city has left the police with a little time to implement orders.
Caught surprisingly the day before the festival, the police are now waiting for the government’s orders to make the next step.
The biggest headache for the police became a giant idol in Khairatabad made of pop and needed hours to reach Hussainsagar, which was almost 2 km.
“The number of idols this year is likely to be 10% less than 2019.
But most idols that are immersed in HussainSagar are made of pop and many people have bought it.
We must now find plans for Khairatabad Ganesh and many other large pop idols that are immersed in HussainSagar every year , “said a senior police officer.
Last year due to pandemic sidewalks there was no Ganesh procession.
While in 2019, around 45,000 Ganesh Idols were soaked in Hussainsagar and 10,000-12,000 other idols in the Rachakonda water body and Cyberabad Commissioners.
In 2019, 29 cranes were installed in tanks and six on Marg Ntr.
This year, after Bund Tank’s beauty, only 16 cranes planned there while the rest had to be established at the Plaza and Marg NTR People.
But the tank bund is now beyond the limit after the court order.
While there is a baby pool in Cyberabad and Rachakonda, they have not been tested to immerse some idols.
