Hyderabad: In the midst of worries that grow on the omicron variant of Covid-19, health authorities have urged private hospitals to have separate outpatient wings and inpatient care facilities for foreigners and those who have traveled abroad.
Officials have ordered the RT-PCR test for Covid-19 conducted in all private hospitals and that the State Health Department was told if one of these patients experienced symptoms.
According to the authorities, the rules apply to risk and non-risk risks.
The same system in the second wave will be there again, they said.
Outpatient services and separate hospitalization must be made for foreigners in government and private hospitals.
“Whoever approaches the hospital with all types of diseases must be subject to the same rule,” the official said.
“We don’t want the hospital to become a hotspot again like in the second wave,” said an official.
There are only a few dozen hospitals that provide medical tourism services and the majority of foreign patients only visit this hospital.
The authorities have directed that if the positive results were found, the sample must be sent for the genome sequencing.
All hospitals are also asked to keep detailed records of foreign patients who come for care.
Meanwhile, the test results from those who were taken from paramount and tolichowki colonies were stored under the wraps because officials refused to reveal the results.
Health staff have collected more than 1,000 samples from this area.
While officials said there were no plans to wear any limits in the near future, the government took input from various departments and stakeholders after omicron cases in the state.
Officials are worried that Omicron is likely to appear faster than other variants.
They said that if restrictions at large meetings were enforced, they would only apply to the city because most cases appeared to be from Hyderabad and that the majority of the patient positive Omicron was in Hyderabad.
