HYD: ‘Saddula Bathukamma’ Blooms at Grand Finale

Hyderabad: Housing colony and high-rise in this city wear a lively display Wednesday because thousands of people gather to celebrate ‘Saddula Bathukamma’, the last day of the Bathukamma Festival, and Durga Ashtami with a great record.
Their best dress, women issue a colorful process that brings baths in many parts of the city.
They put their bathmmas in the middle, dancing them by synchronizing pats and steps while singing folk songs.
While many colonies have established a plastic pool in the area for bathing, some women also look to go to the nearest water body to set a stack of floating flowers.
“Flower decorations, dances, music and food stalls are part of our Bathucamma and Dussehra celebration,” said Mithilesh Kumar Singh, Vice President, the Association of Rajapuspha Attria’s Welfare.
Singh said that dozens of women from the community had taken part in the celebration of Bathukamma every day and added that ‘Visarjan’ from Bathukamma was being carried out in an emergency plastic pool in the community.
Likewise, in the colony of Vidyanagar in Chandanagar, a number of women were seen participating in the celebration of Bathukamma after Puja on Wednesday night.
“Every year, I make a point to take part in the bathucamma celebration in the colony and pray only for my family’s welfare, but also from all the residents in the colony,” said K Lakshmi, a resident of the colony.
Instead of going to Tank Bund or other places in the city, Denizens seems to prefer celebrating the festival in their area this year due to Covid-19 fear.
“We think the best is celebrating a festival in the colony.
It seems like many have the same opinion,” Vinay V said, Miyapur residents.
Although the Telangana government announced that Saddula Bathukamma, will be celebrated on Wednesday, some colonies, however, have decided to celebrate the last day of the Bathukamma Festival on Thursday.
“We will celebrate the Saddula Bathukamma tomorrow because Bathukamma is a nine-day festival,” said P Ranjith Kumar, Member, Matrusri Nagar Cultural Committee.
He said that on average around 250-300 women had taken part in the Bathucamma celebration every day.
“At least 300 others have taken part in the puja every day,” he added.
