Hyderabad: Cyber’s cheats advised a 57-year-old unemployed software engineer from Rs 13 Lakh promising to give him a job in England.
According to the police, the victim, Venkata Murali Manohar, called from Yousufguda, lost his job after his company closed the store in 2020.
Manohar uploaded his resume in various work portals and recently received phone calls from fraudsters who were in accordance with the recruitment work consultant for the company Real estate based in the UK, Gold property, Cyber ACP crime KVM Prasad.
By offering work in the company’s sales department with a handsome salary, the cheater convinced Manohar to transfer RS 13 lakh on various pretensions.
“The fraudsters send a fake job offer letter and make Manohar 1 lakh transfer to various bank accounts for consulting fees, commissions to find work and visa processing fees,” ACP said.
When the defendant continued to ask for more money, Manohar realized that he was cheated and filed a complaint to the Cyber Crime Police on Wednesday.
“Details of the final transaction were sent to the National Maya Crime Reporting Portal and by contacting the bank, we managed to stop withdrawals around Rs 3 Lakh,” ACP said.
The police registered the case under the relevant IPC section and IT actions.
