Hyderabad: The top institution such as the Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad and the National Technology Institute (NIT), Warangal, closed their campus after several students and staff members tested Covid-19 positive.
There are 20 positive cases in Nit, Warangal, after which campus is closed by the authorities.
“About six to seven students have been to Pondicherry for holidays during Christmas and New Year.
The same collection of students is infected with a virus that leads to the spread of other students,” said Ramana Rao, Director, Nit Warangal.
The Institute conducts an antigen test that is fast among all students and faculty members.
Next, the order is issued on the suspension of all physical classes.
“In the light of a surge in the Covid-19 case, it has been decided to suspend the scheduled recover of students gradually to campus with direct effects.
Therefore, all students and scholars research are recommended not to return to campus until further instructions,” Read Notifications to student.
“It has also been decided that students and research research on campus can also decide to leave campus, if they want it.
Class work will continue to be online.
All students who do not live on campus will be allowed to attend an online exam,” added notification.
IIT-H, who decided to continue the physical class from this week, has now decided to return to online class after six students tested positively.
“The Institute has received calls to have an online class until the situation increases.
All the necessary norms will be followed for the safety of residents on campus,” said BS Murty, Director, IIT-H.
For students who have returned to campus, the authority of IIT-H is now exploring the options to serve their food and other needs in their dorm room.
The movement of students on the campus has been limited due to the spread of the virus.
