Hyderabad: In another case the suspicion of driving drunk, a woman was killed after a two-wheeled vehicle she traveled was hit by a car driven by a technical student at Ghatkesar on Friday night.
Driving students allegedly under the influence of alcohol.
In the last two weeks, six accidents, due to drunk driving, took place in Banjara Hills, Narsingi, Kompally and Petbasheerabad and seven people died.
About 6:30 on Friday, B Coconut Village and Hanuman Das traveled on their bicycles when the car hit their bicycle from behind, said the police said.
Two wounds and transferred to the hospital.
Coconut Village, 42, a housewife, died when he was shifting to the hospital, while her husband, Hanuman Das, said to be out of danger, the police added.
The victims who traveled from Ghatkesar to Edulabad and the accident occurred on the way.
The car was driven by Nikhil Reddy, a technical student.
After the accident, he tried to escape, but the locals arrested him and handed them to the police.
Apart from the defendant, there were two more people in the car during the accident, the police added.
“A medical test confirmed Nikhil was drunk.
Some friends, including Nikhil, participated in a birthday party.
He consumed liquor at the party, “said Ghatkesar Inspector N Chandra Babu Toi.
After the accident, local residents protested at the police station demanding justice for the families of the victims.
A case was registered with the defendant and he was sent in the detention of justice.
