Hyderabad: About 57% of snakes are saved in the city are amazed cobra, increasing concerns about expanding habitat caused mainly by increasing construction activities.
Snakes Society members said they had saved and relocated 4,793 snakes until 30 June 2021 from Hyderabad and surrounding districts, despite pandemics and kuncian.
Blame construction activities around the outer ring road, rescuers say more calls come from Gachibowli, Patancheru, Kukatpally and other locations in the West Corridor.
Data revealed that around 24% of snakes were saved were mouse snakes, followed by 5% to Viper Russell and Keelback 4%.
The remaining 10% are non-venomous snakes belonging to 17 species.
At night Snakes World, experts say that during the rainy season, Liang and Gaps on the ground are flooded, forcing snakes to look for higher and dry hiding.
“This is one reason to increase the frequency of snake meetings during the rain months,” said an official.
Avinash Visvanathan, Secretary General of the Snakes Society friend, said that the snake acted as an intermediary predator and their role in the food chain was not replaced.
“Most species of snake hunting mice and keep their populations remain controlled, they save some crores worth of meadows and plants stand.
Various factors such as habitat loss, climate change, diseases and murder by humans have an impact on them,” he said.
To preserve snakes and mitigate snakes, Snakes Society friends have worked on the rescue and relocation of snakes since 1995.
The community receives more than 100 calls on the help channel every day seeking help that enters the residence or office space.
