Hyderabad: Betting racket busted, 5 held

HYDERABAD: The Special Operations Team (SOT) of Hyderabad’s Cyberabad police busted a cricket gambling racket and detained five criminals.
The accused were carrying gambling on Pakistan Super League (PSL) tournament.
Police captured Rs 20.5 lakh money, 26 mobile telephones attached to some trainee panel, a TV, a router and a notebook from their ownership.
The gambling racket has been controlled in Pavani Residency at Bhandari Layout.
Police raided the location on Monday night and detained five bookies – G Satya Pavan Kumar (32), U Satheesh Raju (41), Ch Trinath (29), N Bhaskar (31) and J Prasad (25).
Somanna, the primary offender, is absconding, authorities said.
In accordance with Cyberabad commissioner V C Sajjanar, Somanna was coordinating the internet cricket betting racket in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
Satya Pavan Kumar and Satheesh Raju got entry to gambling sites out of Somanna and via Trinath, Bhaskar and Prasad, they utilized to organize with other bookies at Hyderabad for the commission.
“Punters can view gain or loss online via the gambling apps offered from the accused and obligations are largely created through internet platforms.
The money trade between Somanna and Satya Pavan Kumar occurs through hawala,” the commissioner said.
“We noticed that pupils may also be indulging in gambling.
Parents should continue to keep a watch for the actions of kids.
Individuals may alert Cyberabad authorities about cricket gambling by dialling 100 or by simply sending a text message into 9490617444,” the commissioner said.
