Hyderabad: City doctor has celebrated Silver Jubilee from Hyderabad’s first organ transplantation.
It was in July 1996 that a kidney was transplanted in patients from a corpse.
Only two cities – Chennai and Delhi – have that facility.

KS Nayak, a senior organ transplant specialist, which transplanted the first organ in Hyderabad, given that it is the duty of Herculean to obtain the necessary permits from the government to transplant organs because there is no guideline at that time.
“We have completed 25 years of the first corpse organ transplant in Andhra Pradesh which was not divided in 1996.
It was one of the first three done in India and our efforts to pave the way for the next formation of Jeevandan, which is currently associated with a virinchi pain, said.
He said there was no proper guideline to define brain death during that period.
Special permission was obtained from the director of medical education, the police and authority concerned to continue the pathbreaking operation.
Two kidneys from Braindead donors were successfully transplanted into two patients with the final kidney failure.

Nayak and his team which led to awareness among the community.
