Hyderabad: This is deja Vu for people who live in Chadherhat, Bandlaguda, Asifnagar, Shaikpet and the area alongside along Musi.
For the second time a little of a month, they looked at the threat of fresh flood after the authorities raised two water gates from the Himayatgar reservoir on Tuesday.
With no rain, residents living in these low areas say that they have no place to go if their area is flooded.
“The similar situation appeared last month and we had no place to go except the mosque that had been occupied by those who could go there first,” said Mohammad Imran, a resident of Shanker Nagar.
Officials HMWS & SB and GHMC monitor the situation and say that they will issue high alerts if necessary.
“In case they will open more gates or increased water levels, we ask GHMC officials to arrange some temporary shelter places with basic facilities so that those who have children can stay comfortable,” said Jacob Khan, a resident of Chadherhat.
Allelaying Fears, G Rajnikanth, Deputy Commissioner GHMC Zona Charminar, said, “At present, there is no puddle threat.
If necessary, we have a community room in Afzal Nagar.
Food will also be arranged from the Annapurna canteen.
There are around 100 families in the downstream area Vulnerable to flooding if more gates are opened.
