Hyderabad: Four cellphone thieves were arrested and eight phones recovered from them on Friday.
According to the Western Zone DCP Joel Davis, the defendant turned to grab the telephone to fund their addiction to alcohol.
The defendant who was arrested was MD Khaja Pashashd Sabeel, SK Sohail and M Pavan Kumar from Singadikunta in Banjara Hills.
The police verified CCTV’s footage near the crime scene to zero on four young people.
In January the first week, the defendant triggered a cellphone near Mehfil Hotel and Shah Gouse Hotel in Dargah area at the Raiguram police station.
On January 24, three of them went to Brundavan Colony in Tolichowki on a bicycle and grabbed the cellphone from the victim walking alone.
They then grabbed another cellphone near the President Garden in Shaikpet and at around 30 noon they found another victim near the brick showroom at the Nagar Auto Film Stand.
