Hyderabad: Cannot bear a stench that comes from the Yawahnagar Dump Yard, people who live in several areas adjacent to the area reaching authority.
This, because the spicy smell has forced people to live in the room.
The probe was then ordered by the Minister of Administration KT Rama Rao.
Visits to the colony located within a six to seven kilometers of the Dump Yard revealed how difficult it was for residents to go about their routine tasks without covering themselves with a handkerchief.
This, they said, is the only effective way to protect themselves from the brutal stench and smoke.
“We carry land here and build houses that believe in promises made by the state in a row state.
However, there are no concrete steps taken in the last eight years.
The stench is only worse every year,” complained R Shanti Kumar, a resident of Dammaiguda, which is six kilometers from Dump Yard.
The stench began to fill the air directly from Alwal, Sainikpuri and Trimulirry, because most garbage trucks passed this area to reach Jawaharnagar.
Spreading more than 300 hectares, dump yards have been used actively for more than a decade.
Residents, however, wailed that despite capping and leachate treatments taken recently, a foul odor accompanied by health problems was only compounded by every year.
Not only air, but for years, Dump Yard also polluted ground water in the surrounding area, said residents.
“There are days when we wake up at night almost choking because of a strong smell that meets the air.
We have stayed here for almost 20 years but have never been consulted when dumping starts.
Initially, it was only a polluted air but now, that too Water, “said M Subashini, a resident of Nagaram.
This problem also became a viral on social media on Thursday when several residents and political officials asked the authorities to their personal intervention in this matter.
Many are looking for a permanent solution for this problem.
Responding to Concerns, the Minister of Administration KT Rama Rama Rao directing the Secretary of the Special Chair of Arvind Kumar, Mayor of GHMC Gadwal Vijayalaxmi and Commissioner Lokesh Kumar to visit the answer and submit reports on this issue.
“We have spent RS146 Crore on limiting the inheritance dump and starting 20MW waste to the energy plant too.
Also, the funds are approved for leachate treatment.
(Sic),” KTR tweeted on this problem.
Commissioner GHMC Lokesh Kumar is not available for response to this problem.
