Hyderabad: After hiatus a few days, heavy rains up to 91 mm stretched parts of the city leaving many areas flooded and plunged into darkness on Sundays.
Southwest Monsun was a little weak over the past few days crossing Telangana.
However, on Sundays, rainfall makes a comeback with a cloud band that comes from the northern part of the city and covers the entire city at night.
According to the community figures for the state development planning Telanangan, until 7pm, Tarnaka recorded 91.8 mm high rainfall followed by 83 mm in Madhusudan Nagar in Malkajgiri and 82.5 mm at Osmania University.
Heavy rainfall causes water to move in many areas such as Tarnaka, Punjagutta, Lalamet and Tolichowki.
Water entered several houses and basements in Tarnaka, Lalam, Karthikeya Nagar, Nacharam and neighboring areas and also damaged several vehicles that were partly sunk.
“This is the first rain this season and as usual our colonies are flooded with almost four feet of drain water,” Tweeted Vinod Kumar, a resident of Padma Colony, Nallakunta.
Deputy Mayor M Srilatha Shobhan Reddy visited the rain-hit areas in the Tarnaka Division in Manikeshwari Nagar, Lalamet, Tarnaka and other colonies and instructed officials to clear stagnation points.
The disaster relief team is activated in Punjagutta, Tolichowki and other regions to clean water stagnation.
Heavy rains also plunge a lot of areas in darkness for a short time.
“As soon as it rains, the power supply to our area is interrupted.
If this is the type of supply we get at the start of the rainy season, I wonder what will happen to the peak,” said Ravi Kumar, a resident of Punjagutta.
According to the Indian Meteorology Department (IMD), Telangana will continue to witness light, sometimes heavy rain, for the next few days.
“Cyclone circulation located in South Odisha and the environment has moved towards the coast of the AP and its environment.
Under its influence, Telangana will experience extensive rainfall for the next few days.
The minimum temperature is likely to drop two to three degrees Celsius,” said the dragon Ratna, Tourist Director, IMD, Hyderabad.
