Hyderabad: Over the past year, 35-year-old Sambodhi has been fighting with endless battles – to clear the waste flowing outside his house in the west of Marredpally’s L Shankar Nagar.
A colony consisting of 30 houses, this pocket has, over time, comes to being synonymous with waste problems.
“Even the taxi driver identifies the location that has drains running through its path; that’s the problem.
It’s a nearby drone blocked with garbage and excess water flowing directly to the road outside our home,” said the citizen journalist who aired complaints through the Toi application.
He added: “Over the past years, we have chosen representatives of power from various parties, reaching several citizenship authorities, which are submitted representations with all relevant officials, but no one produces results.” The locals in the area said that the stench of waste waste has become unbearable and even leads to health problems now.
“Recently, neighbors died of dengue fever.
Officials visited the area and did temporary work, but the problem reappeared not far afterwards.
It’s time that the problem is repaired for good and residents permitted to live a hygienic life,” Sambodhi added .
When TI reached water council officials, they claimed that the L Shankar Nagar project had been cleaned and will soon be launched.
“We have got sanctions around Rs 15 Lakh for the job.
We will change the entire pipeline there soon,” said Ramana Reddy, General Manager, HMWS & SB, Division Marredpally.
