Hyderabad: Secunderabad club does not have fire security

Hyderabad: The 144-year-old Secunderabad Iconicabad club, which was damaged by a major fire on Sunday, did not have a basic fire security mechanism, in addition to portable fire extinguishers, an investigation by firefighting officials had revealed.

“There is no smoke / fire detector and sprinklers.
There is also no hose reel and down comer at the facility,” said a fire department.
The club management on Sunday claims that they have all the necessary permissions, but on Monday, regional firefighters, V Peaches said that the club management did not have the NOC issued by the fire department.
A senior official said that after the investigation they would issue notice to management.
Meanwhile, police marredpally wrote to the Department of Fire and State of Telangana Southern Power Distribution Limited (TSPDCL) authorities requested them to examine fire accident sites and provide reports.
Meanwhile, the Station fire officer in the city began checking the 11 main clubs to see if they had obtained Nocs.
Among the clubs checked were, the film Nagar Club, Jubilee Hills Club and The Hyderabad Gymkhana Club.
All three clubs have NOC issued by GHMC, with the exception of a building at one of the clubs, which does not have NOC.
