Hyderabad: Water enters the house with Musi

Hyderabad: The area in the old city located along the Musi River is one of the most affected after the city received more than 100 mm of rain on September 27.
Water enters houses in a lowland area with many who have to use an electric pump to dry it.
Following the excess flow of water, hyderabad metropolitan water supply and gutter boards (HMWS & SB) lifted 12 gates of Himayattagar reservour to two legs, and six Osmansagar reservoir gates up to three feet.
This led to an increase in water content in Musi.
As a precautionary measure, the traffic police closed Chaderghat Causeway and the Moosaram Bridge for vehicles following the increase in water level as a result of the big flow of upstream.
Areas such as Barkas, Mecca Colony, Chandrayangutta, Aliyabad, Bahadurpra, Malakpet, Kalapater, Nawab Sahab Kunta, Hasan Nagar, Rajendar Nagar and Karwan are very flooded.
“Great Hyderabad Municipal Corporation and city planning officials must examine how people are allowed to build illegal construction along the open nalas, in the middle of the water channel.
Rain reveals the apathy of the authority of the public problems of the Old City region,” said Vice President of the Minority GHMC TTDP Mohammed Ahmed.
Those living in areas along the Musi River were alerted and asked to move to safer places or take precautions in the case of water rising.
Residents are also worried that the rain will bring up the threat of mosquitoes that can produce an increase in the case of dengue fever and diseases transmitted through other vectors.
“So far, there are no officials who come to solve the problems faced by us.
We urge the Mayor of GHMC and Commissioners to come around the old city to find out more about public problems,” said Mohammed Samad, a resident of Mustaidpura.
