Mumbai: India tested Captain Virat Kohli on Wednesday confirmed that he would play in the opening ODI series in South Africa, placing speculation about his availability and the equation with the newly appointed Rohit Sharma white ball captain.
“I and I are available for selection all the time.
I have never communicated with BCCI asking for a break.
I am available for the ODI series in South Africa, and always available,” Kohli said during a pre-departure press conference before touring South Africa.
“It should be asked to people who write lies.
My communication with BCCI about this problem has not happened that I want to rest,” he added.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma (BCCI photos) for the past two days, speculation has been rampant that not all of whom are well between Kohli and test deputy captain of Rohit, who will not play a test due to a hamstring injury.
After Rohit was ruled out, the report appeared that Kohli would take a break from the ODI series at Rainbow Nation to spend time with his young family.
