Mangaluru: Rashmi Samant, former president of the University of the University of Oxford, said that he had faced many problems when he opposed the University Union of Oxford University, because he was an Indian.
He was speaking at the ‘Yuvadhwani’ program organized by ABVP, on the occasion of Swami Vivekananda Jayanati, here on Wednesday.
Samant has created history by becoming the first Indian woman being elected as the President of the Union of Oxford.
He must resign from the post in a few days, in the midst of the controversy around the comments and post in the past.
Samant, sharing his experience, said that it was because he was an Indian, that he faced many problems.
“Even though there were difficulties, I was contested as Indians, and became successful.
Swami Vivekananda was an inspiration for me,” he said, adding that he wanted to show the power of Indian youth, which he did.
For me the pride of the country is the most important, he added.
