T’puram: Kerala University Senate has approved a proposal to start nine new departments, which according to the University will help it reach the currency in the study and research.
The new courses offered are in communication and electronic science, artificial intelligence and robotics, data science, functional organic matter, oceanography and blue economy, renewable energy, integrative biology, atmospheric science, and design.
Each department will offer the PG and PhD program.
Communication and electronic departments are intended for study promotion and research in signal and processing of images, nanotechnology, and solar energy materials.
Artificial intelligence and robotic will focus on computer vision, engine learning, brain and cognitive and robot design and development.
The Pro-Vice Chancellor PP University Ajiyakumar said the new department would help universities to attract students who are currently choosing universities in other countries and abroad.
In addition, research can be redefined to be in accordance with the needs of the community and will improve research and entrepreneurship in new sectors, which he claims.
There will be one professor, one associate professor and four assistant professor posts in the new department.
During the initial phase, teacher services in other departments will be available in the new department.
The University plans to establish a bond with the main agent such as VSC to foster research, university authority said.
