I-T Dept. said all settings were made to check the use of black money in the poll; Looking for people’s support

Lucknow: The income tax department has made a complicated arrangement to curb the use of black money in the upcoming assembly selection at Uttar Pradesh, said an official on Thursday.
The control room with a toll-free number is 18001807540, which will remain operational all the time, it has been set in Lucknow.
People are encouraged to call this number to provide specific information related to cash or other valuable items allegedly used to influence the election process, Director General of Income Tax (Investigation), Uttar Pradesh, Mohan Kumar Singhania said here on the day Thursday.
He assured that the identity of the caller would be kept secret, and that the officers and inspectors had been deployed in each district to act on complaints.
About 300 officers and inspectors have become representatives for this particular purpose.
These teams will act in close coordination with district control rooms from district election officers and other agents at the district level, he said.
The lid surveillance is being maintained for people, places and activities that are likely to be involved in the handling of uncountable cash during the election process, Singhania said.
