New Delhi: With a disturbance still haunting the new income tax portal, Minister of Finance Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said he hoped the website developed by the Infoosus did not have launch but hopes would be resolved soon.
Sitharaman said Infosys had tested before the launch of June 7 but users faced technical problems in accessing the portal.
“I hope it doesn’t happen this way.
But we correct courses and faster portals will be as planned, easy to use,” he said.
New Income Tax E-archiving portal ‘www.incomex.gov.in’ has a bumpy start since the day launches on June 7 because it continues to face technology disorders.
Speaking with reporters, Sitharaman said his ministry along with Infosys had conducted a trial before launching the portal, but still the user experienced “quite a lot of trouble” after his launch.
“Infosys are quite close to the Institute of Chartered Accountsants of India (ICAI) and the Ministry and quickly, at least from what I heard from a rented accountant and professional tax income, there must be many improvements,” he added.
Infosys in 2019 provides a contract to develop the subsequent generation income tax archiving system to reduce processing time for returns from 63 days to one day and speed up refunds.
The government has so far payed RS 164.5 Crore to Infosys between January 2019 to June 2021 to develop a portal.
Sitharaman has on June 22, calls a meeting with the main infosys officials to review the problem on the portal.
During the meeting, ICAI members highlighted the problems faced by taxpayers and tax professionals on the portal.
