Patna: The Indian Air Force (IAF) has provided a nod to the expansion of Darbhanga airport, where the state government will get 78 hectares of land, the Minister of State for the IPRD and Water Resources Sanjay Kumar Jha said on Wednesday.
The IAF, in his letter aimed at Darbhanga District Magistrate (DM) on Tuesday, has stated that the state government can begin the acquisition of 78 hectares of civilian land for Darbhanga airport outside the IAF station.
Darbhanga airbase owned by IAF and commercial flight operations began here from November 8 last year after the construction of a civil bag while above an area of ​​15,000 square feet.
Jha said after expansion, a total of eight flights would be permitted to be parked at the time at Darbhanga airport compared to the two today.
He further said that night landing facilities would also be possible after expansion of the airport.
The minister said about 54 hectares of land will be used for the construction of a larger terminal building and the remaining 24 hectares will be needed for the extension of the runway and other utilities, including installation of instrument landing systems from category 1 (ILS, CAT-1).
An ILS helps the pilot when it lands as far as identifying the position of the runway where Google must be worried.
Jha associates the development to attract interest taken by CM Nitish Kumar.
“CM Nitish wrote several letters to the Ministry of Civil Aviation for timely starting from commercial flight operations, allowing more airlines to operate, starting cargo facilities and air ambulances,” he told Ti.
Nitish has written a letter to the Minister of aviation Hardeep Singh Puri on December 23 last year, asking for more flights, the development of permanent terminal facilities and naming the airport after Poet Vidyapati.
