Pune: At least two fighter planes – Jaguar and Mirage from the Indian Air Force (IAF) will soon be equipped with a sophisticated system to protect from missiles guided by enemies in the air.
The new ‘Chaff Advanced Technology’ system was designed and developed by two Defense Research and Organizational Development (DRDO) Laboratory – Pune-based high-based material research laboratories (HEMRL) and Jodhpur Defense Laboratory (DLJ).
“Sekam is an important component of fighter aircraft.
The main role is to produce radiation the same as a fighter Who doesn’t want to be named.
“Currently IAF uses glass-based / made chaff fiber made involved in the project, with anonymous requirements.
Every fighter has a different place to load husks.
One plane requires around 300 husks during active operational roles, said scientists.
Another advantage, the scientists said, “the system developed accidentally will cost effectively.
The imported husk that we bought at a high cost over the past few years,” he added.
Business and technical testing systems were conducted at the Gwalior Air Force Station two months ago, the source of Drdo said.
“The IAF officer team, DrDO and technical agents have evaluated every aspect of new technology during this trial.
And technology meets all operational and technical requirements of style,” added scientists.
“IAF has begun the induction process of this technology after completing a successful user trial,” said a statement issued by the Drdo Head Office, New Delhi while Chaff was designed by DLJ, hardware, the ejection system and its initiators had been developed by the Hemrl team, said the source of Drdo .
“Drdo is in the final stage of the transfer of technology to Nagpur and Hyderabad-based private companies to carry out the mass production of husks.
They will take several months to launch the first item batch.
The IAF’s annual needs are around 50,000 items.
The cost of one husk will be in the range of eight to Ten thousand, “said another Drdo scientist, who realized his development.
