ICC change point system for the second edition of the world test championship

The International Cricket Council said on Wednesday, he had changed the point system ahead of the second edition of the world test (WTC) after receiving feedback that needed “simplified”.
Sport’s Global Organizing Body (ICC) said the team will be given 12 points for each match victory, four to draw and six if there is a tie, with a percentage of Won points used to determine the standings.
Previously, the same number of points was allocated for each series, divided by the number of matches played.
Changes will apply to the second edition of the WTC.
In November, the ICC said the team would be ranked based on the percentage of points obtained from the match that was resolved to determine the finalist, after the Pandemic Covid-19 interfered into the schedule.
“We accept feedback that the previous point system needs to be simplified,” said the Geoff executive chief executive ICC in a statement.
“The Cricket Committee considers this when proposing a new and standardized point system for each match.” It maintains the principle of ensuring that all matches in the WTC series count towards the team’s position while accommodating two tests and five tests.
“New Zealand claimed the first WTC title with an eight-goal victory over India at the end of last month.
The second WTC began with the British-India series in Nottingham on 4.
Nine participating teams will play six series each, three houses and three, with dates Cut-off to March 31 2023.
