Coimbatore: Food security officials on Thursday sealed the living room of ice cream in the city of Coimbatore for serious deviations in preparing food, including mixing alcohol in dessert served to customers.
Based on complaints, food security officials carry inspections at the rolling dough cafe at Pallayam PN on Jalan Avinashi on Wednesday.
The cafe staff stated that they mixed alcohol in two desserts that were not permitted according to food security norms, officials said.
Dr K Tamil Selvan, District Designated Officer, FSSAI, said that the management of the cafe mixed alcohol in two dessert – Caramel Custard and Dark Chocolate.
Bottles of half-used whiskey and brandy also recover from cafes.
Desert samples are sent for testing.
Officials said the kitchen was not maintained by hygienic.
While flies can be found in large quantities, the store fails to keep the place to be disanitized and there are no records maintained on kitchen cleaning.
It was found during inspection that those who prepared food did not have a medical fitness certificate.
The staff did not cover their hair.
They don’t wear masks and gloves.
The FSSAI certificate is also not displayed in a prominent place, officials said.
The cafe was sealed on Thursday morning by food security officials in front of officials from the income department.
