Chenni: The day after arresting the former head of the mechanical engineer at the Integral Coach Factory A K Kathpal to demand and accept RS 50 Lakh’s bribe, the Central Investigation Bureau on Tuesday arrested four people.
The four people who were arrested were identified as Hamsa Venugopalan, Director of Chennai based on Universal Engineer Chennai Pvt Ltd, Om Prakash, Hamsa’s partner, brother Kathpal Kathpal Sanjay Kathpal and Khetmal Jain from Salem steel trading company.
The CBI reached around RS 2.75 Crore Cash and around 23 kg of gold on Monday.
On Tuesday, he seized other investments such as FDR worth around Rs.
4.28 Crores related to Kathpal and family members.
Documents and property keys from two bank lockers have also been restored during search for several places in Chennai and Delhi.
Monitoring of bank accounts and other documents is underway, the CBI said.
The CBI case said Kathpal had collected bribes from Hamsa and the other between February 2019 and March 31, 2021 (retirement date) in the award / implementation of tenders in terms of the ICF mechanical division.
He used Hamsa services as a channel to collect bribes on his name and also as guards to keep the alleged illegal satisfaction around Rs 5.89 Crore received in his name.
