New Delhi: Contact contact Covid case does not need to be tested unless identified as “high risk” based on age or comorbidity, according to new government advisors.
The ICMR advisor on purposive testing strategies for Covid-19 also said that individuals who travel domestic between countries also do not need to be tested.
It is said that testing can be done either through RT-PCR, Truenat, Cbat, Crispr, RT-Lamp, a fast molecular testing system or through a quick antigen test (mouse).
Positive point-of-care tests (houses or self-test / mice tests) and molecules are considered as confirmation without repeat testing, the adviser said.
Simtomatic individuals, negative testing at home / test self-test or mice must do a RT-PCR test, which is stated.
“People who need not be tested: COVID case contacts confirmed unless identified as high risk based on age or comorbidity and individuals who travel domestic between countries,” the adviser said.
Furthermore, it says that asymptomatic individuals in community arrangements, people who stand are dismissed according to home insulation norms and “repatriated” from Covid facilities according to the revised release policy also do not need to be tested.
List of categories of people who can be tested, said advisors in community settings, symptomatic individuals, risky contacts (old age of more than 60 years and individuals with co-morbidity) of cases that confirmed laboratories can be tested for Covid-19.
Also, individuals who travel internationally (according to the specific needs of the country and international tourists who arrive at the Indian / Port / Port / Port entries in accordance with Laid Down guidelines) can be tested.
In hospital settings, testing can be done according to the discretion of the doctor who cared for consideration such as no emergency procedures (including operations and shipping) must be postponed because of the lack of tests and patients should not be referred to other facilities due to the lack of testing facilities, the adviser said.
All settings must be made to collect and transfer samples to testing facilities, mapped to health facilities, he said.
Asymptomatic patients undergo a surgical / non-surgical invasive procedure including pregnant women in / near the workforce hospitalized for delivery should not be tested unless guaranteed or symptoms, advisors said.
Recognized patients may not be tested more than once a week, he said.
ICMR advisers are generic and can be modified according to the wisdom of the state health authority for certain public health and epidemiological reasons, the adviser said.
