ICMR team to start the sero survey today

Cleared / Anil Coimbatore: Team 25 Members of the Indian Medical Research Council (ICMR) have landed in the district on Tuesday to start the Sero survey.
The team will collect 40 samples of each of the 10 Covid-19 clusters, six of them will be from corporate limits and the remaining four of the rural areas.
The team is expected to collect all 400 samples in one day on Wednesday.
The Public Health Department official said while the ICMR team was late one day, they will visit the cluster and complete the sample collection on Wednesday itself.
The team should arrive on Monday night and collect samples on Tuesday.
Epidemiologists, who do not want to be named, said the 10 clusters identified include the Muduthurai of Mettupalayam, Masagoundenpudur from Coimbatore North, Thimmankuthu from pollur, thudiyalur, chettipalalayam, Vellalur and three other locations from City Corporation boundaries.
While the 25 member team consists of technical and non-technical staff members, the Ministry of Health tends to send several staff members for assistance.
A collection of samples for state governments initiated surveillance, meanwhile, began on Monday.
While 180 samples were collected from six clusters at the city corporate limits on the same day, 180 other samples were collected on the second day on Tuesday from six other clusters.
In accordance with the sero survey conducted in April, this district has a sero pepositives of 20.47%.
Officials said 258 of 1,260 samples were tested then reactive.
The Sero survey in October-November showed a slightly higher level of participation of 21.94%.
Then, 248 of the 1,170 tested samples were reactive.
“We see the level of sero’s position lower in April compared to November 2020.
It is the phenomenon of countries,” said a press statement from the Director of Public Health.
“It can be attributed to the antibodies that are on the period after a few months.
When we conducted a sero survey after five months, it showed a lower person with antibodies.
Vaccine coverage in April was also very low,” he said.
The population is considered to have achieved herd immunity only if 60% of them become immune.
